The crushing and screening set-up is described below:
Terex® Pegson 1100x800
The design and geometry of the crushing chamber combined with the aggressive crushing action and the different types of Jaw Plates available leaves the customer with a machine which has high out-put as well as the ability to be changed as per customers’ requirements.
The Terex® Pegson 1100 x 800 PremierTrak was fed with a blasted 500mm – Gabro rock material, the close side setting on the crushing chamber was 150mm, the crushed material was then fed to a Terex® Pegson 1300 Maxtrak.
Terex® Pegson 1300 Maxtrak
The Terex® Pegson Maxtrak Range can take an all in feed which combined with the various types of mantles available and the aggressive motion of the crushing chamber, creates a more cubical shape to the product being produced, which is becoming more and more important in the production of high spec concrete and asphalt aggregates.
The Maxtrak 1300 close side setting was at 32mm, the crushed material was then passed through to the Powerscreen® Chieftain 2400 3 Deck.
Powerscreen® Chieftain 2400
The Powerscreen® Chieftain 2400 has been designed specifically as a large track mobile screen to work within a crushing set-up; the machine has integral folding side conveyors with a detachable 4th oversize conveyor.
The Chieftain 2400 has been fitted with a 6m x 1.8m (20ft x 6ft) adjustable high amplitude screen box (standard amplitude 10mm) allowing maximum energy to be passed through the material for efficient separation of materials being produced.
The Chieftain 2400 has been fitted out with a 32mm square mesh on the top deck and a 5mm elongated mesh on the bottom deck; in this application we are not using the middle deck. The crushed +32mm was re-circulated to the Terex® Pegson 1300 Maxtrak for re-crushing the 5mm elongated bottom deck removed all of the -5mm crushed material from the product leaving a clean 5mm to 32mm material to pass through to the Terex® Pegson XV350.
Terex® Pegson XV350
The XV350 is one of the latest additions to the Terex Pegson Range of equipment. The XV350 is a Terex® Canica 2050 vertical shaft impactor which has been fitted to a Terex® Pegson 1300 Maxtrak Chassis
This machine has various configurations which gives the machine a lot of versatility in order to be changed as per customer requirements.
The XV350 was set-up on this site with a 5 port closed rotor, rock on rock which reduces flake and elongation from 30% elongation to 20% elongation creating a more uniform cubical product which falls well within the specification needed for high spec concrete and asphalt aggregates.
The crushed materials was then passed onto the H6203 R, the H6203 R is the biggest track mobile horizontal screen available on the market today.
Powerscreen® H6203R
The horizontal triple shaft screen is a Cedarapids LJ 6m x 1.8m (20ft x 6ft) 3 deck screen which has been fitted to a track mobile chassis which is diesel hydraulically driven.
The 6m x 1.8m triple deck screen has a triple shaft adjustable mechanism creating an elliptical screen motion which allows the screen to be adjusted to the material being separated. The H6203 R uses pure aggression in order to move the material and combined with the elliptical motion which helps to turn the material you have a very efficient screen which gives the maximum production in crushing and screening set-ups which are required to give high production with minimum carry over when producing single size aggregates.
The H6203 R has been fitted out with a 22mm square mesh on the top deck, a 12mm square mesh on the middle deck and a 5mm elongated mesh on the bottom deck. The + 22mm crushed material was re-circulated back to the XV350, and the finished products on the ground were a 0 to 5mm dust, a 5mm to 12mm and 12mm to 22mm finished high spec cubical aggregates which is used for high spec concretes in the all of the main construction sites in the UAE.
Powerscreen® Warrior 1800
The Warrior 1800 is the most robust heavy duty versatile machine produced by Powerscreen; the Warrior Range is equally at home producing single sized aggregates as it is in the more arduous tasks it may have to perform in such as scalping or recycling.
The Warrior Range can accept a piece size up to 500mm (20”) and with the range of screen media available to this machine it can be spec’d up for customers’ requirements when required. The screen box fitted to this machine was a 2 deck 4.8m x 1.5m (16ft x 5ft) adjustable high amplitude screen, the machine is powered with a CAT 3054 - 109 HP with integral folding side conveyors.
The machine was fitted out with a 100mm bofar on the top deck and a 22mm Elongated mesh on the bottom deck, the material fed to the machine was an overburden which was separated into a 0 to 22mm sub-base, a 22mm to 100mm rock and a 100mm to 500mm oversize.
Terex® Pegson XR400
The Terex® Pegson XR 400 is world wide recognized for its high aggressive crushing action and high through put. The XR 400 is fitted with the “M” series single toggle jaw with a feed opening of 1100 x 650mm and is directly driven by a Cat C9 – 230 Hp engine through a highly efficient self adjusting HFO clutch and “V” belts. This machine also incorporates the “soft start” feature, which gently brings the swing jaw up to working speed.
The high-swing jaw forces the feed material into the crushing chamber and the hydraulic adjustment has been developed not only to enable closed side setting changes to be made quickly and easily over a wide range, but also to provide overload protection by hydraulically releasing the pressure on the swing jaw, allowing the swing jaw to open under overload conditions. The hydraulic closed side setting adjustment is activated without the need to release the draw-back mechanism and this system is particularly suitable for applications where regular jaw setting adjustments are required, minimising down time.
When “dumping” occurs, the feeder will automatically stop and the product conveyor will automatically slow down to enable the over band magnet to discard any tramp metal off the product conveyor. The XR 400 is therefore typically used in recycling applications where the feed material contains a high proportion of re-bar.
The product conveyor is also designed to raise and lower hydraulically to allow the operator to lower the conveyor whilst the machine is crushing, to clear any rebar trapped under the engine compartment.
In this plant the XR 400 jaw crusher was set 90mm CSS, feeding into the newly designed Terex® Pegson XH250 Horizontal Shaft Impactor.
Terex® Pegson XH250
The XH250 is one of the latest additions to the Terex Pegson range of machines, with a Pegson designed impactor which incorporates hydraulic apron adjustment and hydraulic overload protection on both aprons. The impactor is fitted with a 34” x 34” (860mm X 860mm) – 4 blow bar rotor to allow a range of different configurations of blow bars to be used in a wide range of applications. The XH250 is directly driven by a Cat C6.6 – 250hp engine through a highly efficient self adjusting HFO clutch and “V” belts. The machine also incorporates the “soft start” feature which gently brings the rotor up to working speed; this working rotor speed is also adjustable through the engine speed between 1600 – 2100rpm. Directly under the impactor outlet is an under pan feeder, designed to take the impact from the re - bar that has gone through the impactor, which then feeds the material onto the product conveyor, maximising the wear life of the product conveyor. The product conveyor is also designed to raise and lower hydraulically to allow the operator to lower the conveyor whilst the machine is crushing, to clear any rebar trapped under the engine compartment.
The XH 250 was set at 80mm on the top apron and 40mm on the bottom apron, producing 0-40mm.
Powerscreen® Chieftain 1700
The Powerscreen® Chieftain 1700 is the latest addition to the Chieftain Range; the machine was designed to give the customer more choice when looking at the Chieftain Range which would be more in line with their requirements.
The Chieftain 1700 Range is a machine which fits between the Chieftain 1400 and the Chieftain 2100X, and is available as a 2 & 3 deck model, the machine has been designed with a 2 bearing high amplitude screen box and is powered with a CAT C4.4 -111 HP engine.
The screen box fitted had a 4.8m x 1.5m (16ft x 5ft) top deck, a 4.8m x 1.5m (16ft x 5ft) middle deck and a 4.2m x 1.5m (14ft x 5ft) bottom deck in the 3 deck version and a 4.8m x 1.5m (16ft x 5ft top deck and a 4.2m x 1.5m (14ft x 5ft) bottom deck on the 2 deck version.
The Chieftain 1700 3Deck was fitted out with a 22mm top deck mesh a 14mm middle deck mesh and a 6mm speed harp on the bottom deck, the material fed was a -50mm crushed Gabro and the end-products were a 0 to 6mm dust, a 6mm to 14mm, a 14mm to 22mm and 22mm to 50mm finished single sized aggregate.
Terex® Pegson 1412
The H5163 horizontal screen was fed by the 1412 Trakpactor which was fitted with the well proven Hazemag AP-PH 1214/Q impactor driven directly through a 21” KPTO clutch by a Cat C13m - 438 Hp engine.
The 1412 impactor is fitted with a 1400 x 1200 - 4 blow bar rotor which allows for different configurations of blow bars to be used, optimising throughput, wear life and shape. The 1412 Impactor is fitted with two aprons which incorporate hydraulic adjustment and overload protection on both aprons, an inlet plate which is hydraulically operated to assist with bridged material to enter the chamber. The 1412 Trakpactor has an optional under pan feeder directly under the crusher outlet; an excellent set up for recycling applications where you have a lot of re-bar exiting the crusher to extend the wear life of the product conveyor. The product conveyor is designed to lower and rise hydraulically to allow any trapped re bar from underneath the machine whilst the machine is crushing, therefore minimising down time. In this application the 1412 Trakpactor was fed with “as blasted” Gabro material and the aprons are set at 100mm on the top apron and 50mm on the bottom apron.
Powerscreen® H5163
The H5163 was fed with a crushed material from the Terex® Pegson 1412, the H5163 R is a new addition to the H range and like the H6203 the H5163 has been fitted with a Cedarapids 4.8m x 1.5m (16ft x 5ft) – 3 deck screen. The 4.8m x 1.5m triple deck screen has a triple shaft adjustable mechanism creating an elliptical screen motion which allows the screen to be adjusted to the material being separated. The H5163 is powered with a C4.4 – 130 HP with integral folding side conveyors, the H5163 is also available in two types of models, the standard has the oversize material going in a forward motion and discharging on the tail conveyor and a re-circulating model which allows the oversize material to be discharged out on the side conveyor. The H5163 has been fitted out with a 22mm mesh on the top deck, a 14mm mesh on the middle deck and 6mm elongated on the bottom deck.
Terex® Pegson 4242SR
The 4242SR is globally known as a good all-round machine which can be used as well in primary as in secondary applications due to its high reduction ratio which is typically 20:1. The 4242SR is powered by a Cat C9 - 309Hp engine which gives drive directly through “V” belts to the Pegson designed impactor fitted with two aprons as standard and as an option can be fitted with a third apron to further improve in shaping of material. The crusher is fitted with a 42” X 42” (1066m x 1066mm) 4 blow bar rotor which allows for different configurations of blow bars to be used, optimising throughput, wear life and shape. Another key feature of the 4242SR is the well proven 11’ x 5’ (1525mm x 3350mm) 4 bearing Powerscreen design 2 deck screen box, which allows oversize material to be returned back to the impactor for re-crushing via the on plant return conveyor. This return conveyor can also be turned out 90° to give a stock pile of over size material. A similar chevron style stock pile conveyor can be fitted on the opposite side of the machine to give a screened product and the fines are transferred from the screen via a 1.4m wide fines conveyor.
The 4242SR was fed with “as blasted” Gabro and the aprons are set at120mm on the top apron, 60mm on the second apron and 50mm on the third apron.
